Poonawatta Insurance Block Shiraz draws from a single Flaxman Valley site. The vines are the progeny of the winery's 1880 plantings grafted onto phylloxera resistant rootstock.

In the vineyard's cool climate the fruit ripens over an extended period. It is then handpicked, destemmed and crushed. After fermentation and pressing, the wine develops in fine grained French oak barrels.

Deep purple, Poonawatta Insurance Block Shiraz has vibrant dark fruit flavours and a long, savoury finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
